Headline of the Week 

New Jersey Players Advance Through U.S. Open Local Qualifying 

Several more Garden State golfers punched their ticket to Final Qualifying during local U.S. Open qualifying this week, continuing a strong spring stretch for New Jersey players competing at the national level. 

At two local qualifying sites on Monday, several New Jersey players earned spots into final qualifying. At Fairview Country Club in Connecticut, Grant Sturgeon of Wyckoff, N.J., shared medalist honors after firing a 4-under-par 68 that featured seven birdies throughout the round. Meanwhile at Metropolis Country Club in New York, amateur Isaiah Williams of Flemington, N.J., advanced with an even-par performance, while William Hook of Tenafly, N.J., also secured his place after a late birdie on the 17th hole. Amateur Barnes Blake of Westfield, N.J., earned second alternate honors following a playoff. (Learn More

Competitive Golf 

  • Chris Gotterup and Max Greyserman will tee it up in the second major of the season, nearby at Aronimink Golf Club for the PGA Championship. Gotterup will tee off on Thursday at 1:43 p.m. ET and Greyserman at 8:13 a.m. ET. (Learn More

  • The 11th U.S. Four-Ball Championship is being conducted May 16-20 at Desert Mountain Club with several New Jersey players in the field. Mark Benevento Jr. and Drue Nicholas, Ryan Smith and Trevor Randolph will be competing. (Learn More

  • Several New Jersey women are competing at NCAA Regional sites across the country. Megan Meng (Northwestern), Katie Li (Duke), Sarah Shao (Columbia), Samantha Galantini (Quinnipiac), Vaidehi Shah (Quinnipiac), Marisa Flores (Quinnipiac), Natalie Spiska (Quinnipiac), Megha Ganne (Stanford), Angelina Tolentino (Vanderbilt), Taylor Sieg (Charleston). Junior & High School Golf 

  • Moorestown knocked off Holy Angels by one stroke at Raritan Valley Country Club in Bridgewater to win its first state title in program history. (Learn More

  • Angela Liang of Pingry won her first individual state championship by shooting 3-under par 69 at Raritan Valley Country Club in Bridgewater. (Learn More

  • St. Joseph (Montville) won the 92nd edition of the NJSIAA Boys Golf State Championships Monday at Raritan Valley Country Club in Bridgewater. The victory marked their second straight title. (Learn More

  • St. Joseph (Mont.) sophomore Roay Asselta parred the first playoff hole over Cherry Hill East junior Tyler Whitney to capture his second straight individual state title Monday at the NJSIAA Boys Golf State Championships at Raritan Valley Country Club in Bridgewater. (Learn More

NJ Golf Community 

  • The LPGA Tour returns to New Jersey this month as the ShopRite Classic heads to Seaview, bringing many of the world’s top players to the state. Volunteer opportunities are still open. (Learn More) 

  • The Heroes Tour provides competitive golf opportunities for active military personnel, veterans and first responders (firefighters, law enforcement, paramedics & EMTs). All skill levels are welcome. Tournaments feature a gross and net division. (Learn More
