Wall Earns Medalist Honors as Match Play Bracket is Set for 42nd Mid-Amateur Championship

MORRISTOWN, N.J. –– Jeremy Wall, out of Manasquan River Golf Club, fired a 3-under par 67 on Tuesday to earn medalist honors in the 42nd Mid-Amateur Championship at Morris County Golf Club.
“I hit the driver well,” Wall said after the round. “I feel like I hit it decent and good enough all day.”
Wall, 29, was most recently a finalist in the 93rd Four-Ball Championship at North Jersey Country Club. In 2024, Wall was a quarterfinalist in the 41st Mid-Amateur at Union League.
Wall started his front nine with four birdies, and finished with one on the back nine to help guide him to top honors in the stroke play round.
“I love playing here,” Wall explained about the course. “If I'm holding a trophy at the end of the week, great. If not, then I got to play five rounds, or as many as I can get in [here].”
LeFante was the sole representative among the four former champions to reach match play.
The 38-year-old fired an even par 70 at Morris County. The 2022 Mid-Amateur champion is keeping his focus going into the next two rounds of match play.
“I’m just going to copy Scottie Scheffler,” LeFante said. “He talks about one shot at a time, being in the present, and that’s it. Playing the golf course. You go out and make pars, a couple birdies, and you’ll do fine.”
LeFante, of Somerset Hills Country Club was not fazed by Morris County’s challenging 6,522-yard course.
“I feel like this is a little similar to my home club,” LeFante said. “Old school course with really tough greens.”
There was a 6-for-3 playoff to determine the final spots in the match play bracket.
The Round of 16 of the Mid-Amateur Championship will take place on Wednesday, June 3 beginning at 7:30 a.m. at Morris County.
