Parsells & Delfino Team Up for Victory at 13th Women’s Four-Ball Championship
SKILLMAN, N.J. –– Christina Parsells out of Somerset Hills Country Club and Daria Delfino of the NJ Golf E-Club shot an 8-under par 64 at Cherry Valley Country Club to win the 13th Women’s Four-Ball Championship on Tuesday, July 29.
Parsells and Delfino got out to a strong start with an opening sequence of a birdie, par and birdie.
“We know each other's games really well,” Parsells said. “I feel like we were able to tell each other when the green light was there and when we should be a little more conservative. We were able to maneuver the course,” she continued.
Delfino and Parsells battled with the duo of Reese Hannon and Sammie Dolce throughout the entire day, as the pairing stayed neck-and-neck through the front nine. With clutch birdies on holes 10 and 11 to open their back nine, Delfino and Parsells pulled ahead with a one-stroke lead.
“It was amazing,” Delfino said. “We've always tried to ‘ham-and-egg' it and we haven't really had our best stuff. I was just watching Christina having the best time. We were just really feeding off each other's energy. We’re both really positive about each other’s games and it helps when in golf you can get down on yourself.”
The familiar pair, who played against each other in the finals of the 2025 Women’s Mid-Am, in which, Delfino won in 20 holes, extended their lead with a birdie on No. 13, the 319-yard par 4.
“If you can't beat them, join them,” Parsells joked after their win.
“We feel like we're playing our best golf and we have the best perspectives on our games more so than we did when we were playing collegiately,” Parsells said. “It’s just cool to see that we're able to still improve our games so much after college.”
Parsells, the 2024 Women’s Mid-Am Champion was a standout at Georgetown University, where she played for four years. Delfino also played collegiately at Loyola University New Orleans. The pairing has a long-time friendship and were coworkers at Golf Digest together.
“Winning by yourself is fun, but winning with somebody else and working together, it’s just so rewarding,” Delfino said. “Especially now that we don't really get to play much team golf anymore post college. Getting to be on a team and just getting to be out there is just so much fun and it just keeps you in it. You want to do good for your partner, but you also want to do good for yourself.”
“Especially when Christina is pouring them in from 30 feet away,” Delfino joked.
“You've got my back,” Parsells added. “That’s why we make a good team.”
Playing in the same group, Hannon and Dolce battled back so that the pairs were both at 6-under par going into the final two holes. Parsells dialed in a key birdie on No. 17 to extend their lead once more and to get to 7-under for the day. With a blemish-free back nine, Parsells clinched the championship on No. 18 with her sixth birdie putt of the afternoon.
“It was so fun to get to go back and forth with them,” Delfino said. “It was just so fun to be out there and feeding off each other's energy and just trying to do the best we can. Lucky enough for us today, it was enough.”
“Christina was lights out today,” she continued.
“Playing with [Dolce] and [Hannon] was just really fun,” Parsells continued. “[Hannon] was throwing darts all day, so we had to step up our game.”
Hannon, of Trump National Golf Club – Bedminster, and Dolce of Basking Ridge Country Club finished right behind Parsells and Delfino, carding a 6-under, 66 in the gross division.
In the net division, Anne Sonoga, of the NJ Golf E-Club, and Audrey Guglielmo, of Mendham Golf & Tennis Club, won with a 7-under par 65. In the runner-up position was Colleen Rafter and Meral Malady with a 5-under par 67.
