NJ Golf Introduces the Cronheim Cup, a Junior Invitational

KENILWORTH, N.J. - New Jersey Golf has added the Cronheim Cup, a junior stroke-play invitational championship, to its 2026 schedule. The 54-hole championship will feature a cut after 36 holes and will be held Aug. 10–11 at Watchung Valley Golf Club.

The Cronheim Cup will feature a 78-player invitational field of boys and girls ages 18 and under and will be contested as a 54-hole stroke-play championship with a cut after 36 holes. The event will be conducted as a World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) event, with competitors also receiving Junior Golf Scoreboard points. The championship is intended to provide elite junior golfers with a high-level competitive opportunity.

The event is named in honor of Robert D. Cronheim, who served as New Jersey Golf president from 1992–93 and is part of the family ownership of Watchung Valley Golf Club. In 1993, Cronheim founded the NJ Golf Youth Foundation, one of two charitable arms of New Jersey Golf. He received the New Jersey Golf Distinguished Service Award in 2013 for his contributions to the game in the state.

Cronheim is the grandfather of current New Jersey Golf President David Cronheim.

“Our family is deeply touched that NJ Golf has named this new and prestigious invitational in honor of Bob," NJ Golf President David Cronheim expressed. "We are thrilled to have the opportunity to support the championship and build upon his legacy of service to youth golf.”
