New Jersey Duo Set to Tee it Up at 126th U.S. Open Championship

SOUTHHAMPTON, N.Y. –– When the 126th U.S. Open Championship begins at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club on Thursday, June 18, two New Jersey natives will tee it up alongside many of the world’s best players. Max Greyserman of Short Hills and Chris Gotterup of Little Silver have both earned spots within the championship field and will look to make their mark on one of golf’s grandest stages this weekend.

Known for its windswept, links-style characteristics, firm fairways and demanding greens, Shinnecock Hills routinely ranks among the most difficult tests in championship golf. Located on Long Island’s South Fork in Southhampton, it serves as one of the oldest clubs in the United States and is a founding member of the USGA. The course has previously hosted five U.S. Opens and is the only venue to stage the championship in three different centuries. Shinnecock Hills will be set up at 7,440 yards and play to a par of 35-35 –– 70.

For Greyserman, the U.S. Open appearance continues what has been a breakthrough in his professional career. One of the most accomplished junior and amateur players to come through New Jersey, Greyserman captured the 2013 Billy Y. Dear Junior Championship, and the 2015 New Jersey Amateur Championship after a record-setting-final-round 64 at Morris County Golf Club.

Since turning professional, Greyserman has steadily climbed the ranks to establish himself as a PGA Tour regular. The 30-year-old earned his spot on the PGA Tour through the Korn Ferry Tour and has since made appearances in all four major championships, with a T-21 finish in the 2024 U.S. Open Championship.

Greyserman will begin his championship round at Shinnecock Hills from the 10th tee at 8:14 a.m. Thursday morning alongside Brian Harman and Jacob Bridgeman. The group will switch to the 1st tee for Friday’s second round at 2:09 p.m.

Gotterup enters the week as one of the most surging players in professional golf and one of New Jersey’s most accomplished touring professionals. The Little Silver native built his reputation on the New Jersey Golf scene, capturing the 2019 New Jersey Open Championship at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, becoming one of the state’s most recognizable amateur standouts before starring collegiately at Rutgers University and the University of Oklahoma.

Gotterup’s professional career has accelerated rapidly since earning his first PGA Tour victory at the Myrtle Beach Classic in 2024 before breaking through on the international stage with a victory at the Genesis Scottish Open in 2025. He followed that performance up with a third-place finish at The Open Championship and added the Sony Open title in 2026. Gotterup finished T-23 at the 2025 U.S. Open held at Oakmont Country Club.

Gotterup will tee off on Thursday morning from the 1st tee at 7:30 a.m. in one of the championships marquee groups alongside five-time major champion Brooke Koepka and PGA Tour star Cameron Young. The trio will begin Friday’s second round from the 10th tee at 1:25 p.m.
