Metedeconk National Awarded 2029 U.S. Four-Ball Championship
NOVEMBER 4, 2025 – The USGA has announced that Metedeconk National Golf Club in Jackson has been awarded the 2029 U.S. Four-Ball Championship. It will mark the first USGA Championship for the magnificent 27-hole facility, and the 66th USGA competition to be held in the Garden State.
“We’re proud to bring a USGA championship to Metedeconk National Golf Club for the first time,” said Mark Hill, USGA managing director of championships. “Metedeconk’s commitment to excellence and its championship-caliber design will provide an exceptional experience for players and a worthy test for the game’s best amateurs.”
Founded by the visionary Sambol family, Metedeconk National's first and second nines were designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr., and opened in 1987. The original championship-caliber, 18-hole golf course was the vision of Richard Sambol as the centerpiece of his quest to build a national membership of the leading captains of industry.
The course was routed through nearly 800 densely wooded acres in the New Jersey Pinelands’ upper region. Water serves as a playing hazard on seven holes. Wildlife is plentiful. In 1998, the Third Nine, designed by Roger Rulewich, was added.
Metedeconk National, which carries four sets of tees ranging from 5,200 to 7,200 yards, boasts a state-of-the-art 40-acre practice area. The area includes two acres of teeing ground, target greens, a 10,000 square-foot putting green, and a short game target area.
When the 2029 U.S. Four-Ball visits Metedeconk National from May 19-23, it will mark the second of three occasions of the championship being held in New Jersey over the span of six years. Plainfield Country Club hosted the 2025 U.S. Four-Ball this past May which was won by Will Hartman and Tyler Mawhinney, while The Ridgewood Country Club will host in 2030. The companion course for the 2029 U.S. Four-Ball has not been announced.
