Aidong Ma started her round with consecutive pars through hole four before picking up a bogey and double on Nos. 5 and 6. From there, Ma fought back with her first of four birdies on No. 7, the 403-yard par 5 to get to 2-over par on her way to making the turn. Ma continued her strong start with a par and a birdie to close out her front nine.

“I feel great,” Ma said following the round. “We had beautiful weather. It’s a beautiful course. I played with good players, so the tempo was good.”

With a bogey on No. 12, Ma knocked in a pair of off-setting birdies on Nos. 15 and 16 to take the top spot on the leaderboard with only a few holes left. She closed out her round with a bogey and a par to grab a three-stroke lead into the second and final round on Tuesday.

"I’m trying and doing my best,” Ma said on her mindset going into the final round. “First, I enjoy the game, and then I do my best.”

Behind Ma was Donna Mummert, of Copper Hill Country Club, who shot a 4-over par, 73. Mummert got out to a strong start with six consecutive pars, before a bogey on No. 7 put her above par for the first time all morning. From there, Mummert responded with a pair of pars to close out her front nine and continued that momentum through hole 15, carding six straight pars before a string of bogeys ended her round.

In the Super-Senior Championship, defending champion Anne Conway, carded a 11-over par 83 to take a three-shot lead going into the final round.

The championship will conclude on Tuesday at 8:00 a.m. at Hawk Pointe Golf Club.
