Hackensack Golf Club to Host Centennial New Jersey Women’s Amateur Championship

ORADELL, N.J. –– Hackensack Golf Club in Oradell will be the site of the landmark 100th New Jersey Women’s Amateur Championship July 15-17, where the Garden State’s top female competitors will battle for the Women’s New Jersey State Championship Cup.
Founded in 1899, Hackensack Golf Club has hosted numerous state and regional championships. The club has been an exemplary supporter of championship golf, having hosted the New Jersey Open twice in the last decade-and-a-half (2023 and 2013), as well as the New Jersey Women’s Amateur in 2011 (won by Scotland Preston).
The golf course was originally designed by golf course architect Seth Raynor and built by his construction associate Charles Banks in 1928. It features many of the Banks/Raynor famous template holes including a Biarritz (No. 3), Principal’s Nose (5), Short (6), Redan (12), and Punchbowl (16). Throughout the course are other Banks staples – generally wide fairways, deep bunkers, and large greens which are “sectioned” into halves or thirds.
Well known for its magnificent conditions, Hackensack has undergone an extensive renovation by Rees Jones’ golf course design firm which began in 2007. Much of the work was based on original Banks plans which were found in the basement of the Hackensack clubhouse. More recently, there has been a restoration project to reshape the bunkers into more of a deeper and steeper Charles Banks style design.
