Gramigna and Slonis Defend Title, Win 31st Senior Four-Ball Championship

RUMSON, N.J. –– Battling intense heat and an elite field, the duo of Tom Gramigna and Jamie Slonis out of Tavistock Country Club won the 31st Senior Four-Ball Championship at Rumson Country Club on Tuesday afternoon. The pair carded a 4– under par 67 en route to defend their title from the 2025 Senior Four-Ball Championship.

In defending fashion, the Tavistock duo opened their round with three birdies and a bogey-free scorecard through the front nine.

The long-time friends, who have known each other since high school, capped off their winning performance with one birdie on the back nine to take the lead and secure the top spot in the championship.

“We know each other's games, and we've played so many times together, so it's always fun to compete with each other,” Slonis remarked after the event.

“He’s been a great friend for a long time,” Gramigna continued. “So, it's fun to share this with him.”

The pair attributes their long friendship as a level-up in playing together and knowing each other’s game so well, a trait that helped them battle 93-degree heat and strong winds at Rumson Country Club.

“I mean, it's a cliche, the ‘ham and egg,’ but that's kind of what we did today,” Slonis said.

“I would say our games are very different, and I think that actually helps in better balls.” Gramigna followed up. “Maybe a shot or a hole that’s hard for me is right up his alley, and vice versa.”

A highly decorated amateur golfer out of Haddonfield, Gramigna notably has won the 2002, 2003 and 2005 New Jersey Mid-Amateur Championship, as well as the 2008 New Jersey Amateur Championship.

Rumson Country Club, which played 6,194 –yards on Tuesday, was a familiar course for the pairing, who made it to the semi-finals in the 86th New Jersey Four-Ball Championship in 2018.

“We had some familiarity with the course and both like it,” Jamie remarked. “It was nice coming back.”

In the net division, John Lynch and Michael Smigie of Rumson Country Club claimed the title with a 7-under par 64.
