Annie Park, Jason Barry Tabbed Captains for Team New Jersey
KENILWORTH, N.J. — New Jersey Golf has named Annie Park and Jason Barry as captains of Team New Jersey, the state's junior team as part of the United States National Development Program (USNDP).
As captains, Park and Barry will help lead Team New Jersey while supporting the USNDP's mission of identifying, developing and inspiring the next generation of elite American golfers. They will provide mentorship, player development opportunities and guidance to the state's top junior players throughout the year.
Park brings a wealth of experience as both a world-class competitor and coach. A winner on the LPGA Tour, Park captured the 2018 ShopRite LPGA Classic after earning three Epson Tour victories and both Rookie of the Year and Player of the Year honors in 2015. She also represented the United States in the 2019 Solheim Cup and enjoyed a decorated amateur career at USC, where she won the 2013 NCAA Individual Championship and was named the Pac-12 Player of the Year and WGCA National Player of the Year. Today, Park serves as a teaching professional at Liberty National Golf Club, where she focuses on long-term athlete development through individualized coaching.
“I'm honored to be named a Team New Jersey Co-Captain. I'm looking forward to supporting our players and representing New Jersey alongside such a talented group throughout the season. I'm eager to work alongside such competitive athletes and foster an environment where players are encouraged to grow, compete, and enjoy the game."
Barry serves as the Director of Instruction at Springdale Golf Club in Princeton and is a five-time Golf Digest Best Young Teacher in America. With nearly 20 years of coaching experience, he has developed players from the junior ranks through the professional level. Before joining Springdale, Barry spent 11 seasons as head men's golf coach at Rider University, where he guided the program to its first conference championship and coached multiple individual conference champions. His students have earned collegiate scholarships, qualified for USGA championships and competed on professional tours around the world.
“I’m incredibly excited to join Team New Jersey as a captain and be part of a program that is committed to developing the next generation of golfers,” Barry expressed. “I look forward to collaborating with a tremendous group of coaches to provide players with the guidance, support, and opportunities they need to reach their potential.”
"We're excited to have Annie and Jason leading Team New Jersey," said Brad Bardon, Director of Championships. "Their combined experience at the highest levels of competitive golf and player development makes them outstanding mentors for the talented young athletes who will represent our state. They embody the values of the USNDP and will play an instrumental role in helping our juniors reach their full potential."
Team New Jersey is part of the USGA's State Junior Team Program, which provides elite junior golfers with development opportunities, coaching, educational resources and a pathway into the United States National Development Program. Players selected to Team New Jersey will receive access to state training camps, athlete development programming and national USNDP resources designed to prepare them for success at the highest levels of amateur golf.
