Wednesday Roundup - July 29, 2026

New Jersey Golf’s “Wednesday Roundup” will run weekly through the 2026 golf season. This weekly news summary will feature local stories and news from throughout the Garden State. Competitive Golf 

• Angelina Tolentino tied for third at the 112th Canadian Women’s Amateur Championship at The Toronto Golf Club in Mississauga, Ontario. Tolentino carded a 1-under and a 283 total over four days from July 21 to July 24. (Learn More) 

• Eight New Jersey players placed in the top 10 of the Women’s MET Open Championship on July 22nd. Grace Lu of Metuchen Golf & Country Club and Ami Gianchandani of Watchung Valley Golf Club tied for second over two rounds of play at Spring Brook Country Club in Morristown, New Jersey. (Learn More) 

• Michael Asselta put on an impressive showing at the 2026 U.S. Junior Amateur Championship in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, at Saucon Valley Country Club. From July 20th to July 25th, Asselta captured T7 with a 2-under over two rounds of stroke play, followed by a match play run from the Round of 64 all the way to the Round of 16. (Learn More) 

• Among 96 total players, Reed Greyserman and Bennett Espenshade each finished in the top 40 of the 85th Monroe Invitational, which took place from July 22nd to July 25th at the Monroe Golf Club in Monroe County, New York. Greyserman finished T38 at 1-over while Espenshade finished even and T34. (Learn More) 

• Dean Greyserman is competing at Beverly Country Club for the 124th Western Amateur Championship in Chicago, Illinois.  (Learn More) 

• The 92nd Connecticut Open is underway at the Country Club of Fairfield with several New Jersey professionals in the field. (Learn More) 

NJ Golf Community 

• Baltusrol Golf Club announced it will host four upcoming USGA championships, highlighted by the major 2046 U.S. Open. (Learn More) 

• Registration for the 2026 Capital Cup at Trenton Country Club is now open. The 2026 Capital Cup will take place on Thursday, October 8th, 2026, with potential earnings surpassing $1,000. (Learn More) 

• The USGA is reinforcing its commitment to broadening golf’s reach with a new round of IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility) grants awarded to 26 First Tee chapters across the United States, including Raritan Valley’s First Tee Chapter. The funding supports local programs that introduce young people to golf while intentionally instilling the game’s values, like honesty, integrity and sportsmanship. (Learn More) 

• The Heroes Tour provides competitive golf opportunities for active military personnel, veterans and first responders (firefighters, law enforcement, paramedics & EMTs). All skill levels are welcome. Tournaments feature a gross and net division. (Learn More) 

• Autism Speaks is hosting its 17th Annual Fall Classic on Monday, September 28th at Baltusrol Golf Club. (Learn More) 

• The Metropolitan Golf Writers Association is hosting its 73rd National Awards Dinner on Tuesday, October 6th at the Mountain Ridge Country Club. This is the first time the dinner is being held in New Jersey since its inception in 1953. (Learn More)

• United States Golf Association (USGA) announced its 2026 U.S. National Development Program (USNDP) Grant Program athletes. In total, 124 athletes representing 32 states and ranging in age from 13-18 will receive more than $1.1 million in financial assistance. (Learn More)
