Wednesday Roundup - July 1, 2026

New Jersey Golf’s “Wednesday Roundup” will run weekly through the 2026 golf season. This weekly news summary will feature local stories and news from throughout the Garden State. Competitive Golf 

• The Asselta Brothers had an impressive week, winning two championships last week. Michael secured the NJ Junior Boys Championship at Fiddler’s Elbow Country Club’s River Course on Thursday, July 25, in a 1-up victory. Meanwhile, in Old Bethpage, New York, Rory won the RLX Ralph Lauren Junior Classic, one of the AJGA’s most prestigious titles, with a 5-and-4 win.  (Learn More) 

• Chris Gotterup finished T30, carding an 11-under par over four rounds of play, at TPC River Highlands during the Travelers Championship. (Learn More) 

• Mike Stamberger tees off in Columbus, Ohio, on Thursday, July 2, at 9:00 AM EST for the US Senior Open Championship on the 10th tee at the Scioto Country Club. Stamberger is paired with Warren Pineo and Ryan Malby. (Learn More)

• Coming off her second New Jersey Girls’ title, Vidhi Lakhawala is competing in the 124th Women’s North & South Amateur at Pinehurst Resort & Country Club in Pinehurst, North Carolina. Lakhawala shot a 2-under par 70 in round one of stroke play and is projected to make the cut following two rounds of stroke play. (Learn More) 

• Dean and Reed Greyserman traveled down to Pinehurst, North Carolina, for the 126th Men’s North & South Amateur at Pinehurst Resort & Country Club. Dean finished round one of stroke play with a 2-under-par 68 while Reed carded a 3-under-par 67. Round two of stroke play is taking place on Wednesday, July 1. (Learn More)

• Rayee Feng won the Girls 16-18 and Girls Overall titles at the NJPGA Junior Section Championship today at Rossmoor Golf Course. (Learn More)

• Chris DeJohn, Ethan Lee, and Lance Hollingshead placed in the Top 10 of the 71st Ike MGA Stroke Play Championship at Sleepy Hollow Country Club in Briarcliff Manor, New York. (Learn More) 

NJ Golf Community 

• Ryan Maciorowski of Neptune City was awarded the Peter Famiano Memorial Scholarship by the New Jersey Golf Foundation. (Learn More)  

• The Heroes Tour provides competitive golf opportunities for active military personnel, veterans and first responders (firefighters, law enforcement, paramedics & EMTs). All skill levels are welcome. Tournaments feature a gross and net division. (Learn More) 

• Autism Speaks is hosting its 17th Annual Fall Classic on Monday, September 28th at Baltusrol. (Learn More) 

• The Metropolitan Golf Writers Association is hosting its 73rd National Awards Dinner on Tuesday, October 6th at the Mountain Ridge Country Club. This is the first time the dinner is being held in New Jersey since its inception in 1953. (Learn More) 

• Navesink Country Club is hosting NJ Golf’s Women’s Golf Day on Thursday, October 22nd. Registration for the event is now open and ends on October 8th. (Learn More)

• United States Golf Association (USGA) announced its 2026 U.S. National Development Program (USNDP) Grant Program athletes. In total, 124 athletes representing 32 states and ranging in age from 13-18 will receive more than $1.1 million in financial assistance. (Learn More)
