Watchung Valley Golf Club Hosts U.S. Amateur Local QualifierÂ

WATHCUNG, N.J. –– Dean Muratore out of Long Island, N.Y. finished 6-under par 65 at Watchung Valley Golf Club on Tuesday, earning medalist honors at Local Qualifying for the 2025 U.S. Amateur Championship. Eleven individuals who shot 3–under par, 68 or better will advance to Final Qualifying. Two players out of New Jersey, Cole Eckert (Chatham) and Daniel Cassidy (Lincroft) have advanced to Final Qualifying and will compete for a spot at The Olympic Club in San Francisco, Calif., in August.
Muratore, the University of Michigan sophomore carded five birdies on the front nine, setting a strong pace going into the turn. A bogey-free back nine, including a birdie on No. 13 and the 573-yard par 5 18th, pushed Muratore to the top seed.
Following close behind at 5-under par, 66, was Kipp Popert (England), who carded in 6 birdies to round out his score.
Ryan Smith (Jersey City, N.J.) and Christopher Lee (Westwood, N.J.) will serve as alternates.
The U.S. Amateur Championship will take place at The Olympic Club (Lake & Ocean Course) in San Francisco, Calif. from August 11-17.
