Tannehills Take 103rd Father & Son Championship Presented by McRae Capital Management

BLOOMFIELD, N.J. –– Following a sudden death playoff, Sean and Keller Tannehill claimed victory at the 103rd Father & Son Championship presented by McRae Capital Management at Forest Hill Field Club with a 2-under par 69.
In the playoff, the Tannehill duo outlasted the Clarkes and the DeVries on No. 1 to earn the Charles H. Smith Championship trophy at Forest Hill Field Club, which played 6,354 yards on Monday.
“We’ve been out here every year for the last nine years and we got it done,” Sean Tannehill said tearfully. “We couldn’t be happier to do it.”
“It’s just amazing,” Keller Tannehill continued. “He’s my best friend to play golf with.”
Sean and Keller Tannehill have been competing in the Father & Son Championship together since 2016 in the Modified Pinehurst format, in which, both partners tee off and then each plays a second shot with the other's ball. After the second shot, a choice is made regarding which ball to complete the hole with. Alternating shots will be continued until the hole is completed.
The Tannehills, out of Atlantic City Country Club, played a strong bogey-free front nine with consecutive birdies on holes 12,13, and 14 to kickstart their momentum for the day. On the back nine, the pairing rebounded from two bogeys with four consecutive pars to close out their round.
“We didn’t really make any mistakes,” Sean Tannehill. “That’s key with these alternate shots.”
In the net division, Robert and Lukas DeVries, out of Baltusrol Golf Club, won with a 9-under par 62.
