KENILWORTH, N.J. - Scott Paris, Director of Golf at Plainfield Country Club, was recently named PGA of America Golf Professional of the Year, the highest annual honor given to a PGA of America Golf Professional, which is awarded for leadership, strong moral character and a substantial record of service to the Association and the game of golf.

“This recognition has me reflecting on my career at length,” Paris expressed. “For years I have been trying to effectively do my job, but I have needed so much help. I am so fortunate for the long list of fellow staff members, mentors, family and friends who have supported, challenged and inspired me through the years. Thank you for believing in me!”

Paris has been a longtime leader in the New Jersey golf community and beyond. In 1997, Paris joined the Plainfield staff as head golf professional and has also served as Director of Golf since 2006 and also as the Chief Operating Officer from 2018-2024.

Plainfield has been the stage for many New Jersey Golf great championship finishes. Under Paris’ tutelage, Plainfield has hosted two New Jersey Open championships, most recently the 2024 Open, won by amateur Derek Gutierrez.

In the local community, Paris played a key role in founding the First Tee of Plainfield chapter – the first to be located at a private country club. He also helped implement the Evans Scholars program at Plainfield, where Jakob Krombholz, a Plainfield caddie, recieved the first New Jersey Golf Evans Scholarship from the club.

On a larger scale, Plainfield has played host to two PGA Tour FedEx Cup Playoff events (2011, 2015) and will host three future national championships in the upcoming 2025 U.S. Amateur Four-Ball, 2031 U.S. Senior Women’s Open, and the 2037 U.S. Senior Open.

Paris will be formally recognized at the 109th PGA of American Annual Meeting in November at PGA of American Headquarters in Frisco, Texas.
