Qualifying: 124th New Jersey Amateur Championship Presented by Provident Bank

KENILWORTH, N.J. - The 124th New Jersey Amateur Championship Presented by Provident Bank, will return to the newly renovated Essex County Country Club after a 25-year hiatus. Having hosted the inaugural New Jersey Amateur in 1900, the West Orange club has been the site of nine previous editions. The champion will earn an exemption to compete at the 125th U.S. Amateur Championship at The Olympic Club in California.
Qualifying for the 124th Amateur Championship will take place at six sites throughout May and June.
Thursday, May 29, Rossmoor Golf Course
In the first qualifier for the 124th Amateur Championship, 10 individuals advanced after an 18 hole qualifying round at Rossmoor Golf Course in Monroe Township. Competitors who finished at 1-over par 72 or better advanced to the 124th Amateur Championship, while amateur golfer Eric Kim of the NJ Golf E-Club earned medalist honors, shooting 3-under par 68.
Saturday, May 31, Galloping Hill Golf Course
Besting the field by two strokes, John Meyers turned in a 3-under par 66 to earn medalist honors in the 18 hole qualifying round at Galloping Hill Golf Course. Meyers and six more competitors advanced to the 124th Amateur Championship.
Monday, June 9, Hawk Pointe Golf Club
Thomas O’Neill of Hackensack Golf Club carded a 4-under par 68 to earn medalist honors in the 18 hole qualifying round at Hawk Point Golf Club. Ten individuals who finished at 1-over par 73 or better advanced to the 124th Amateur Championship during the third qualifying round.
Thursday, June 12, Francis A. Byrne Golf Course
NJ Golf E-Club member Jose Ramirez shot a 3-under par 67 to earn medalist honors at Francis A. Byrne Golf Club during the fourth qualifier for the New Jersey Amateur Championship. Seven individuals who finished 3-over par 73, or better, advanced to the 105th edition of the competition.
Monday, June 16, Mendham Golf & Tennis Club
Playing through rain and cold temperatures, 10 players who shot 1-over par 73 or better advanced to the 124th New Jersey Amateur. Tyler Lee of The Ridgewood Country Club shot a 2-under par 70 to earn medalist honors at Mendham Golf and Tennis Club during Monday’s qualifier.
Tuesday, June 17, Suneagles Golf Club
Travis Dix of Eagle Oaks Golf & Country Club turned in a 3-under par 69 to earn medalist honors on Tuesday afternoon at Suneagles Golf Club during the sixth qualifier for the 124th New Jersey Amateur Championship. Players who shot an even par 72 or better advanced to the championship set for July 7-9 at Essex County Country Club.
Tuesday, June 24, Riverton Country Club
Battling through the heat, nine individuals who scored 1-over par 72 or better advanced to the 124th New Jersey Amateur Championship on Tuesday after the last qualifying round took place at Riverton Country Club. Earning medalist honors, Doug Ergood of Tavistock County Club shot 2-under par 69.
