Qualifying: 106th New Jersey Open Championship Presented by Donnelly Industries
KENILWORTH, N.J. –– The 106th Open Championship, presented by Donnelly Industries, will take place July 21-23 at Morris County Golf Club. Known for its challenging bunkers and sloping greens, the Macdonald and Raynor course will present a true test for the state’s top professionals and rising amateurs over three days of competition.
Qualifying for the 106th Open Championship will take place at nine sites throughout May and June.
Thursday, May 28, Rossmoor Golf Course
In the first qualifier for the 106th Open Championship, eight individuals advanced after an 18-hole qualifying round at Rossmoor Golf Course in Monroe Township. Competitors who finished at even-par 71 or better advanced to the 106th Open Championship, while amateur golfer Brayden Tritsch of the NJ High School Golf E-Club earned medalist honors, shooting 5-under par 66.
Monday, June 1, Montammy Golf Club
The second qualifier for the 106th Open Championship was contested at Montammy Golf Club in Alpine, where six players secured their spots in the championship field. A score of 3-over-par 75 or better was needed to advance, with amateur Dylan Gallagher of Rockland Country Club and professional Brendan Davis of Arcola Country Club sharing medalist honors after each carded a 1-over-par 73.
Thursday, June 4, Knoll Country Club
Nine players earned their spot in the championship field at Knoll Country Club during the third qualifier for the 106th Open Championship. Ethan Lee of the USGA/NJ Golf Club earned medalist honors with a 5-under-par 65, while a score of even-par 70 or better was needed to advance on the 6,574-yard course.
Monday, June 8, Peddie Golf Club
During the fourth qualifier for the 106th Open Championship, eight players secured a championship spot at Peddie Golf Club’s 6278-yard course. A score of 1-under par, 71 or better was needed to advance. Vertti Hamalainen of the Montclair Golf Club earned medalist honors with a 3-under par, 69.
Tuesday, June 9, Old Bridge Golf Club
Six players advanced on Tuesday afternoon at Old Bridge Golf Club during the fifth qualifier for the 106th Open Championship. A score of even-par 71 or better was needed to advance on the 6,270-yard course, where Eagle Ridge Golf Club’s Preston Kyriakoulis earned medalist honors with a score of 2-under par 69.
Thursday, June 11, Metuchen Golf & Country Club
Cody Cox of Black Oak Golf Club, Clifford Lindholm of Baltusrol Golf Club, and Arjun Caprihan of Spring Brook Country Club shared medalist honors on Thursday afternoon with a score of 2-under par 70 to advance to the 106th Open Championship. Nine players with a score of 2-over par 74 or better earned their spot to play for the championship at Morris County Golf Club.
Saturday, June 13, Quail Brook Golf Course
The seventh qualifier for the 106th Open Championship was contested at Quail Brook Golf Course, where five players earned their spots in the championship field. A score of even-par 72 or better was required to advance, with Sean Vowells of Canoe Brook Country Club claiming medalist honors after posting a 3-under-par 69.
