Oak Hill Captures Senior Interclub Championship, Adds Second Foley Cup Win

MORRISTOWN, N.J. – Oak Hill Golf Club took home the 11th Senior Interclub Finals, claiming a five-stroke victory over the field at Spring Brook Country Club on Thursday. The winning squad for the finals consisted of Frank Abbott, Jeff Kortina, Jon Male, David Vanleeuwen, Alex Falcinelli, Gary Delduca, Scott Skripko and Tim O'Rourke.
The Oak Hill team captured the Adrian M. "Bud" Foley Cup, which is named in honor of the former New Jersey State Golf Association president. Over a six-week period, four teams meet each other in section-play matches to determine the winner of their section. The Senior Interclub serves as a great way to visit new courses, make new friends and get the competitive juices flowing, all leading to the finale for section-winning squads.
On the afternoon, the duo of Abbott and Kortina led the way, carding a three-under par 67 en route to the title. The pair turned in four birdies and an eagle on the chilly fall day.
"The concept for this event is a terrific idea,” said Kortina. “It’s tough to win points when people come to Oak Hill and that’s why we’ve been fortunate to make the finals so often. We came in second last year but today we really rallied."
With the victory, Oak Hill now joins Metedeconk National and Trump-Bedminster as multiple-time champions after having won in 2016.
"We’re a close-knit group. We put our best possible team out there today we are all good friends and know each other well," said Kortina.
Little Mill Country Club finished behind Oak Hill at 14-over par as a team.
