NJ Golf Community Mourns the Passing of Dirk Van Emburgh

September 13, 2025 - Dirk Van Emburgh, a longtime NJ Golf tournament official, supporter of the Caddie Scholarship Foundation, and past board member passed away on Tuesday, September 9 at the age of 81.

A member of The Ridgewood Country Club since 1971, Dirk began as a volunteer member of the NJ Golf Tournament Committee in 1989 and faithfully continued his service to the game across parts of five decades. At Ridgewood C.C., he served as a Director from 1991-1995.

Dirk was President and CEO of C.C. Van Emburgh Funeral Home in Ridgewood since 1971. He was especially proud for the family business to enter its fifth generation, continuing a legacy that spans over 130 years.

His professional contributions included serving as past president of the Bergen County Funeral Directors’ Association and as a longtime member of the New Jersey State Funeral Directors’ Association. For two decades, he chaired the association’s state convention golf tournament, blending his love of service with his passion for the game.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, September 18 at C.C. Van Emburgh Funeral Home at 306 E. Ridgewood Avenue in Ridgewood from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Old Paramus Reformed Church at 660 E. Glen Avenue in Ridgewood on Friday, September 19 at 11:00 a.m.
