Nine Earn Spots in U.S. Amateur Local Qualifier at Neshanic Valley
NESHANIC STATION, N.J –– Nine players advanced after a Local Qualifying round for the 126th U.S. Amateur Local Qualifier at Neshanic Valley Golf Course. Walter Gumbinger of Cranbury, New Jersey and Travis Robertson of Tequesta, Florida shared medalist honors after firing rounds of 3-under par, 69. Those who finished even-par, 72, or better, will advance to Final Qualifying and will compete for a spot at Merion Golf Club.
Following closely behind the medalists at 2-under par, 70, was Samson Landers of Little Silver, New Jersey while the trio of Rory Asselta (Ramsey, New Jersey), Jason Longo (Fairfield, Connecticut) and Sam Dolan (Basking Ridge, New Jersey) finished at 1-under par, 71.
Rounding out the qualifying spots on the 6,931-yard course were Isaiah Williams (Flemington, New Jersey), Tyler Cline (Tuxedo, New York) and Michael McConie (Huntington, New York).
Following a playoff, Devin Singh is the first alternate, and Jack Doherty is the second alternate.
