New Jersey Golf Marks 125 Years with Special Publication

KENILWORTH, N.J. - 125 years. Thousands of golfers. Countless memories.

New Jersey Golf is proud to mark its quasquicentennial with the release of New Jersey Golf: 125 Years — a special publication that reflects on the history, heritage, and legacy of the game in the Garden State.

Most histories of sport ask Who? What? When? Where? In this book, noted golf historian Dr. Rand Jerris takes a different approach, asking instead Why? Why was New Jersey Golf formed in 1900? Why did it begin staging championships? Why did it grow into an association that today represents more than 80,000 golfers and over 260 clubs and courses across the state?

By asking “why,” Jerris uncovers deeper stories — tales of innovation, resilience, community, and leadership that have defined New Jersey Golf for more than a century. It’s a history that reaches beyond the scoreboards, celebrating the people, clubs, and traditions that shaped the game we love.

We invite you to explore this special publication and join us in honoring the past 125 years — and looking ahead to the next 125.
