Levinson Secures 15th Super Senior at Shackamaxon Country Club

SCOTCH PLAINS, N.J. –– Dan Levinson of Bayonne Golf Club took home the 15th Super Senior with a 1-over par 71 at Shackamaxon Country Club on Aug. 4.
Following a three-player playoff Levinson emerged victorious over Spencer Foxworth, of the NJ Golf E-Club, and David Weiniger, of Spooky Brook Golf Course, with an 8-foot downhill birdie putt to win on No. 18.
“To make a birdie in a playoff is it great,” Levinson said. “It just feels awesome.”
“I was between clubs,” Levinson continued. “I went with the longer club because I wanted to make sure I got it to the hole, and I did.”
Levinson played a steady round, with birdies on holes 3 and 11 to offset bogeys on No. 9 and No. 17. Playing 5,995-yards on Monday afternoon, Shackamaxon Country Club was a fair test for the 15th edition of the championship, which allowed Levinson to capitalize off of his short game.
“I made a lot of up-and-downs,” Levinson said. “I changed up my driver swing and there were some tight drives. So, I ended up getting them where I needed to, but it was in my putting and chipping today.”
“I'm just very happy,” Levinson said. “Anytime you win a state championship, your name is always there,” Levinson said. “And that's what it means to me.”
In the Net Division, Mike Denise of The Golf Mission secured the win with a 3-under par 67.
