Komline Paces Field on Day One of 67th Pre-Senior Championship

HILLSBOROUGH, N.J. – After 18 holes at Royce Brook Golf Club, Brian Komline of Black Oak Golf Club leads the 67th Pre-Senior Championship. The 2024 Pre-Senior runner-up finished the day at 1-under par 71 on the 6,527-yard course.

Scoring

Komline, 51, bested the field three strokes on Monday thanks in part to five birdies, including back-to-back birdies on holes 17 and 18 to finish the day strong. Elected to the New Jersey Golf Hall of Fame this past April, Komline looks to add a sixth separate New Jersey Golf Championship to his resume: Open (2005, 2007), Four-Ball (2008, 2010), Public Links (2008), Amateur (2010), Mid-Amateur (2012).

Sitting behind Komline with a score of 2-over 74 is Phil Ries. In a three-way tie for third at 3-over 75 is David Iwan, Michael Deo and Robby Lobel. In order to be eligible, players must be between the ages of 45 and 54 for both days of the championship

Twenty-nine players have made the cut at 11-over par, 83 or better. The championship will conclude on Tuesday with tee times beginning at 7:30 a.m.
