Jun Captures 71st Junior Girls’ Championship

UNION, N.J. –– Inha Jun secured a spot in the 2025 U.S. Girls’ Junior Championship with a commanding 3-and-2 victory over Jessica Kim to win the 71st Junior Girls’ Championship at Suburban Golf Club on Thursday, June 26.

“It definitely feels amazing,” Jun said after her victory. “I've been working really hard on my game for the start of the summer, and this is my first tournament of the summer, so it feels really good to get the rhythm going.”

Kim, 12, started out the match with back-to-back birdies on No. 1 and No. 2 to take an early 2 up lead on Jun. From there, Jun climbed her way back with a birdie on the 175-yard, par-3 3rd hole, and a par on No. 4 to cut the deficit to 1 up.

“I was a little shaky off the tee today,” Jun said. “My drives were not hitting the fairway as much as the last two days, but my short putts definitely saved me.”

Jun continued her momentum at No. 8 and No. 9 with a par on each to go 2 up heading into the turn. Holding her composure, Kim rallied back with a birdie on the 492-yard, par-5 12th hole, but Jun continued to push her lead with a key par on No. 13 to go 2 up once more.

Battling through two more holes, Jun closed out the championship on No. 16 to finish the match 3 and 2.

“I was more accurate today,” Jun said of her game overall. “The weather was not as hot as the last two days, and I think that definitely helped.”

“The course played more difficult than the last two days, but I just tried to stay calm,” she continued.

With the win, Jun earns spot to compete at the 2025 U.S. Girls’ Junior Championship at the Atlanta Athletic Club (Riverside Course) in Johns Creek, Ga. on July 14-19.

“It feels great,” Jun said. “It's my first time being able to qualify for that and I think I'll be one of the oldest as an 18-year-old, but I'm really excited for it.”

Jun is headed to New York University in the Fall to compete on the women’s golf team.
