Four New Jersey High School Golfers Earn The Gail Reilly Scholarship

KENILWORTH, N.J. –– Amongst a record number of applicants, four New Jersey golfers, Katherine Liu, Jayden Garofalo, Kevin Ostrander and Joshua Johnson have been awarded the prestigious Gail Reilly Scholarship for 2026. Named in honor of former South Jersey Golf Association president Gail Reilly, The Gail Reilly Scholarship is a merit-based scholarship awarded to competing seniors from counties across southern Jersey, including, Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester, Ocean and Salem.  

In a record-breaking year of applicants, the scholarship award money increased by $500 to amount to $3,500 for the top two applicants, and $250 to amount to $1,500 for the subsequential two applicants. All applicants must be a member of any country club, golf club or other NJ Golf member club to apply.  

Katherine Liu, of Moorestown High School was the female recipient for the top scholarship amount.  Most recently, Liu helped the No. 3 Moorestown High School girl’s golf team win their first NJSIAA State Team Championship, defeating the No. 1 Holy Angels by one stroke at Raritan Valley Country Club. Liu will be attending Wesleyan University in the Fall of 2026. 

Jayden Garofalo, of the Marine Academy of Technology and Environmental Science, will be attending the Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken to study Mechanical Engineering in the Fall of 2026.  Garofalo is the male recipient of the top awarded scholarship amount of $3,500.  

Rounding out the final two scholarship spots, Kevin Ostrander, of Point Pleasant Boro H.S., and Joshua Johnson of Manchester Township High School have both been awarded $1,500 as a part of their scholarship recipiency. Ostrander will be attending James Madison University, and Johnson will be attending the University of Virginia in Fall 2026.
