Five Share Medalist Honors as 15 Advance at U.S. Senior Open Local Qualifying

JACKSON, N.J. - A crisp, sunny morning—paired with a one-hour frost delay—set the stage at Metedeconk National Golf Club for Local Qualifying for the U.S. Senior Open, where a competitive field battled for 15 spots into final qualifying.

At the top of the leaderboard, a crowded group shared medalist honors at 3-over-par 75. Michael Muehr, Michael Stamberger (a), Michael Guli (a), Fran Quinn, and Charles Blanchard each navigated the firm, chilly conditions to post the day’s low score.

While the sun was out, temperatures remained low throughout the round, keeping players on edge as they fought to stay sharp. With scoring tightly bunched, every shot proved critical in determining who would move on.

In total, 15 players advanced from local qualifying, with several spots coming down to a playoff for the final three spots.

Those who qualified now shift their focus to the next stage, where the competition intensifies and a place in the championship remains within reach. Final qualifying will take place at various sites in the country.

The 46th U.S. Senior Open Championship will take place July 2-5 at Scioto Country Club in Columbus, Ohio.
