ALPINE, N.J. - Five players qualified for the 38th U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship after a qualifying round at Montammy Golf Club on Wednesday. Gabrielle Herzig (New York, New York), Corinna Limbocker (Cornwall, New York), Kate Granahan (Mountain Lakes, New Jersey), Hana Ku (New York, New York) and Christina Parsells (Bernardsville, New Jersey) punched their ticket to compete at Monterey Peninsula CC (Dunes Course) in Pebble Beach, Calif., from October 4-9.
Herzig and Limbocker earned co-medalist honors after firing even-par, 72 1-over par 72 on the 6,067-yard course. Herzig’s round was highlighted by an eagle on the par-five 4th hole and a clutch birdie on the par-four 18th to close out the afternoon strong. Limbocker played steady golf through the on-and-off rain, carding three birdies on the day.
For the second consecutive year, two New Jersey golfers qualified for the championship. Granahan and Parsells will each make the return to compete in the U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship to represent the Garden State.
In the first alternate spot was Charlotte Daughan (Cos Cob, Connecticut) while Beryl Wang (New Rochelle, New York) claimed the second alternate spot in a playoff.
