Eight Earn Spots in 39th U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur at Knickerbocker Qualifier
TENAFLY, N.J. –– Eight players qualified for the 39th U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship after a qualifying round at Knickerbocker Country Club on Thursday, July 9. Hana Ku (New York, New York), Megan Voetsch (Boston, Mass.) Sarah Spicer-Baldwin (Silver Spring, Md.), Georgia Carr (Ireland), Mimi McAndrew (New York, New York), Catherine Kim (Palo Alto, Calif.), Amy Ding (New York, New York) and Ashley Kim (Redondo Beach, Calif.) each punched their ticket to compete at Montclair Golf Club in West Orange, N.J. from August 29-Sept. 3.
Ku earned medalist honors after firing in an even-par 72 on the 6,157-yard course. Ku’s round was highlighted by steady play, nearly going bogey-free on her front nine and carding in two birdies on her back nine to close out the afternoon.
Voetsch rounded out the second spot on the leaderboard with a strong scorecard, including an opening eagle on No. 1, the 360-yard par 4. Voestch closed out her round at 1-over-par 73 and ended with a birdie on the par-5 18th hole.
Following a four-for-one playoff, Ashley Kim earned the last qualifying spot.
In the first alternate spot was Maya Walton (New York, New York) while Morgan Yurosek (New York, New York) claimed the second alternate spot.
